In 1997 a program was started by the Recreation Committee to remove the alcohol bottles from the streets, paths, etc.  They were very unsightly, so the Committee instituted the bottle return program.  Through their fund-raising functions they have been able to raise all the funds required to pay 10 cents a bottle for all those turned in at the Township Office.   

To date, there have been over 107,000 bottles have been collected.  In addition to the glass bottles, recently there has been a 5 cent refund given on the plastic bottles also turned in. 

The efforts of the Recreation Committee have not gone unnoticed - the streets are less littered, the paths are safer, and of course, we have a cleaner town.
