Pickle Lake’s historical base is in the mining industry.  A brief history can be found here.   

Our community has greatly benefitted from the mining industry in the past and today there continues to be exploration in this area on a nearly continual basis.  Over the years there has been many companies who have explored the area. Currently there are new developments and with it comes the fresh hope of a working mine in the near future.   

Currently there is exploration that yields gold, platinum and palladium.  The mining industry is very dependent on the fluctuation of the market so the hope of a mine will depend on the value of the ore at the time they have determined there is a high enough percentage of ore to be found in the area.
