Welcome to our Pickle Lake website.
Hello from Mayor Hoffman

Go north, way north, until you have driven as far north as you can go on all weather roads in Ontario, to where the land has barely been touched by humans. A land that is full of pristine streams, rivers, and lakes surrounded by huge tracts of boreal forest, where woodland caribou, moose, bear, and numerous other species of mammals, birds, fish thrive. A land where you can hike, canoe, or boat all day and not see another soul. A land that we call “Ontario’s Last Frontier”
Traditionally Pickle Lake was founded as a gold mining community, in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s. Although mining and mining exploration are still a big part of our community, Pickle Lake slowly evolved into a distribution center for goods moving to the many First Nation communities north of us. Pickle Lake also has a vibrant tourism industry with several different tourism opportunities to choose from. There are do it yourself camping trips, to fly in outpost camps, to lodges that provide a full range of services, the Pickle Lake region has something to offer everyone.
There are some perks to living in a remote, isolated community surrounded by pristine wilderness you’re more in tune with the ebb and flow of mother nature, closer to the great outdoors. It truly is soothing for the soul.
So come on up and enjoy what Pickle Lake has to offer.
Sincerely
Roy Hoffman
